Exactly 4 years to the day, we took the Virgin train from King cross to Edinburgh a day earlier for a long weekend celebrating my birthday! First time in this city and it was fantastic!  I remember as we got out of the station, we heard bagpipes being played!

yep! bagpipe welcome

I mean it don’t get any more Scottish than that!  Our hotel was Tiger lily and it was really lovely and the brekkie was spot on!

First night was din dins at the Honours, loovvved it and my birthday dinner was at Pompadour by Galvin! I really can’t remember if Yeni Meze was a recommendation by the concierge at the hotel or if it was one we stumbled upon whilst we took a wander? I reckon it is the latter. It was day 2 of our long weekend in Edinburgh and we were finding our way round, with no set plans per se plus, it was winter, and your girl don’t like the cold lol. After having a wander and spotting the Edinburgh castle, we went food hunting as we do and voila! Yeni Meze. It was not too busy and we were hoping we would get a table which we did! Come on Scottish hospitality. Anyone who has been to a Mediterranean restaurant, you are generally spoilt for choice when it comes to the food menu. Plus, it can be quite daunting (I find at least). Good thing was, the staff were very helpful and recommended a banquet which was the ottoman feast and what a feast it was!

The three course meal (felt more than that) started with cold and hot meze dishes for starters.

For mains we had meat, fish and vegetables speciality

a platter of home made desserts was pudding and my goodness these were so good!!!

Let’s just say it was a dine like a prince kinda moment, like an Alaadin pince type feast moment lol!

Yep! Edinburgh was a fantastic time!

Cheers
